The serious little page
Privacy.
Squeezy Ghee is currently a product-development website. We aim to collect as little personal information as possible.

Who we are
Squeezy Ghee is a product in development in the United Kingdom. We are the data controller for the information described on this page. You can reach us at hello@squeezyghee.co.uk.
Squeezy Ghee is not yet a registered trading business. Once it is, this notice will be updated with the registered business name and address.
The Squeeze List
If you join the Squeeze List, we store the following so that we can email you when the product is ready, and so that we can show you consented to that:
- Your email address
- The date and time you joined
- The exact wording you agreed to when you joined
- Your IP address and browser user-agent string, as a record of that consent
Lawful basis: consent, under Article 6(1)(a) of the UK GDPR. Marketing email to individuals also requires consent under regulation 22 of the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, which is why we record it.
What we will not do: we will not sell or share your address, and we will not email you about anything other than Squeezy Ghee.
How long we keep it: until you ask us to remove it, or until we decide not to launch the product — whichever comes first. If we do launch, and you never open anything we send, we will delete your address within two years.
Where it is stored: in Azure Table Storage in Microsoft's UK South region. We do not currently use a third-party mailing-list provider. If we start using one, we will update this notice and name them before transferring anything.
One thing that happens straight away: when you join, we email ourselves a notification so we know someone signed up. It contains what is listed above, and it goes only to us — at hello@squeezyghee.co.uk. It is sent through Azure Communication Services, which is Microsoft again, with data held in the UK. Nothing is sent to anyone else.
The tester survey
If you were given a bottle to try, the label carries a code that leads to a short form at /survey. If you fill it in, we store your answers — the batch code, the date, whether it squeezed, how cold the room was, and anything you typed in the boxes.
Your name and email are optional. Leave them blank and the answers still count; they just arrive without a person attached. Everything else on the form is about the ghee rather than about you.
Two things we keep on your device: the first time you open the form, your browser stores a random string — no name, no address, nothing derived from you. It is sent with each answer so that several answers from the same kitchen can be read as one story over the autumn, which is the whole point of the exercise.
And once an answer has gone through, your browser remembers the batch code, plus your name and email if you gave them, so the next time you fill it in you do not have to type them again. That copy stays in your browser and is only ever sent to us as part of an answer you choose to send. It never remembers your answers about the ghee, or either of the tick boxes below. Clearing your site data clears both, and the form works perfectly well without them.
Two separate boxes, both optional and both unticked: one adds you to the Squeeze List, and one gives us permission to quote what you wrote on this website. They are separate because they are different things, and we record the exact wording of whichever you agreed to. We will not put your words on the site unless you ticked that second box.
Lawful basis: consent, under Article 6(1)(a) of the UK GDPR. Where it is stored: Azure Table Storage in Microsoft's UK South region, the same as the Squeeze List. How long: until you ask us to remove it, or until the product development that prompted it is over.
Your rights
You can withdraw consent at any time, and ask for a copy of what we hold or for it to be deleted. Email hello@squeezyghee.co.uk and we will action it — there is no form to fill in. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Cookies and analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which parts of the site people read. It is off until you say otherwise. On your first visit a banner asks; until you accept, Google Analytics runs in a consent-denied mode that sets no cookies and sends no identifier for you. We never turn on the advertising, ad-targeting or personalisation categories at all.
If you accept, it sets two cookies on this domain — _ga and _ga_40HT3DLB8W — which tell one browser from another so a second visit is not counted as a second person. They last two years. We see aggregate reports only: page views, approximate location from your IP address (country or city, never the address itself), and roughly what device you were on.
Lawful basis: consent, under regulation 6 of the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations and Article 6(1)(a) of the UK GDPR.
Where it goes: Google Analytics is provided by Google Ireland Limited, and the data may be processed outside the UK. Google relies on the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework for those transfers. Event-level data is kept for the retention window configured on the property; Google's maximum is 14 months, after which only aggregate reporting remains.
Changing your mind: as easy as it was to agree, and it works in both directions. Declining also expires any analytics cookie already set.
That button needs JavaScript — but so does the analytics, so with JavaScript off there is nothing here to change.
The only other thing we keep on your device is your answer to that banner, stored in your browser's local storage so we stop asking. It never leaves your device, and clearing your site data clears it.
Hosting and fonts
The site is hosted on Microsoft Azure Static Web Apps, which generates standard server logs in the ordinary course of serving pages. Typefaces are served by Google Fonts, so your browser makes a request to Google when the page loads.
